The MOVE directly targets China's dominance in rare earth metals, critical for military hardware, renewable energy, and electronics. Beijing's 2018 self-declaration as a "near-Arctic state" and its 2020 rare earth export blockade during trade tensions revealed its willingness to weaponize supply chains. Greenland's estimated 1.5 million tons of rare earth reserves—including the massive Kvanefjeld deposit—position it as a key battleground in the West's supply chain diversification efforts.
